Lazy Lazy Lazy....

So I got kinda lazy lately with posting. Bad on me. Although the last couple of days I was having internet problems AGAIN!!! Same problem. It would show that I had full bars on my wireless and no problems. Yet, my laptop, iphone and phillip's laptop would not connect to the web. So yeah, that sucked. I called ATT and they sent out a tech who swapped out the router one more time. So hopefully this time around we will have a good router.

I also feel like I am getting sick. I have a scratchy throat and have been running a low grade fever all day long. I took some meds and hopefully I will be feeling better tomorrow.

Ideas ideas ideas....

I have been struggling on and off with ideas for photos. Some days, I have a ton of ideas. Or one really good. Or one really great place to shoot. And other days, yeah nothing. I don't know what to shoot, or where to shoot or really the energy to shoot. So I was looking over the website where I got the idea for the Photo A day project, and they have a list of things to be aware of. And number six on their list is to use weekly themes. I decided this week I'd try to utilize a theme to keep me going. So this week's theme is the color Red. I am starting my "week" on Monday since I had great shots this past weekend.

So RED it is!!

Awesome weekend!

This past weekend ROCKED!! I had one of the most fun weekends in awhile. Phillip and I went with his family down to the OC Pet Expo on Saturday . We got there at about 11 am and we walked around all day. We got to see all kinds of cats and dogs. And there were also some exotic animals there too. A sloth, a kangaroo, a llama. It was so fun. We finally left around 6:30 and we got dinner on the way back to the Valley. I was so exhausted. I couldn't believe how much walking we had done. I was planning on just resting on Sunday and not doing anything.

That didn't happen. Phillip and I both slept in. When I got up, I took a look at my facebook and looked at a posting from Hidden LA. (Hidden LA is a great website about "embracing the depth beneath the shallow") about what there was to do in LA for that weekend that was free. Some one suggested the Brewery Art Walk. I can't count how many times I have driven by the Brewery off the 5 and wondered about the buildings and the people who live and work there. It had been once a brewery for Pabst. So Phillip and I decided to go over and check it out. Oh My, did we have fun!! So much great artwork. Some not my taste but amazing none the less. I talked to a couple of artists, photographers to be more precise and I have made some nice connections. The only problem with the day was there was more walking! ;) So we didn't stay very long since I was exhausted. I hadn't really recovered from the Pet Expo.

I think I am going be recovering for the next couple of days. But it was totally worth it!!

It actually isn't that hard to find. The old Zoo was shut down in the 1960's and moved just south of this location. These grottos were left and you can go hang out there. Misc. Info: A friend had taken me to this store in Chinatown shortly after I had moved to Los Angeles almost 5 years ago. She described it as Chinese Walmart, because it has a little bit of everything! On the first floor, there are food stuffs: dried mushrooms, dried fish, herbs and some liquor. On the second floor, there are home goods, some canned foods and some clothing. This was in a window and thought it was cool. I took a couple of shots at different exposures. I liked this one that's a little under exposed the best.

Musings.....

So while shopping last week, I popped into the Apple Store. I wanted to take a look at Aperture 3. I have been using Aperture 2 since it was released. I wasn't using it much. But once I started shooting RAW and iPhoto doesn't really handle RAW very well, I have been using it more and more. And now with this project, I am using it everyday. So I am very interested in what differences there are in Aperture 3. So I went in for a small demo. And I am jazzed! I really want it. I think it's got some really nice things that were/are lacking in ver. 2.

One thing I was shown was how to change the info in the metadata tab. I am very excited about this. It's kinda buried, and I was never sure how to add notes. Since I am shooting with different apps on the iPhone that have different filters, I want to note which filter I used. I could use key works but I am not a big fan of them within Aperture. So I was able to find a "Special Instructions" area which I added to my metadata tab. I probably should take a class on Aperture to get the most out of my workflow.

Day 62

Date: March 28, 2010
Weather: Dark, 60's
Time: 7:23pm
Camera: Samsung Point and Shoot
Location: Bob's Big Boy, Downey CA
Misc. Info: This a light fixture from the new Bob's Big Boy. There is some drama involved with this location. It was a Johnnie's Broiler. It had been closed down and used at a used car lot. It was torn down illegally. I guess they hadn't even turned off the utilities when they had started demoing it. Someone drove by and contacted the city of Downey. Which put a stop to the illegal destruction. Bob's purchased it and put a major amount of work into it. It is truly amazing! I am so glad they saved a part of history.

Finally...!

So finally today an ATT tech came over and replaced the router. Which fixed everything! I am so glad. Thing seem to be very stable at this point. The ATT tech said that on the router I had the wireless is the first thing to go. And since the router was over a year old the wireless was more likely to go out. That's not very reliable. Hopefully ATT e-cycles in a proper manner. So now I can get back to posting! Sweet!!

More Problems with my Internet.

So the U-Verse tech never showed up on Sunday. But things seemed to fix them self. I was wrong. Tuesday night things started acting funny. I unplugged and replugged the modem. That seemed to work. Wednesday morning, however, was another story. I called ATT again wanting a tech to come out and replace the modem. I got the most rude phone support agent. She didn't believe anything I said and was like rudely told me that she needed to do certain trouble shooting actions, which I told her they have been done before and I just wanted a tech to replace the modem. She then told me that it may be my network name and that she needed to change that. I said BS, that I had never heard of a network name causing connection issues. And to just send a tech out.

So finally after a lot back and forth, a tech is scheduled to come out tomorrow between noon and 4. We'll see if that really happens. All of this connection issues haven't allowed me to post in a couple days. Hopefully, tomorrow we will have a fix and I can post my latest pictures.
