Day 8

I was took an evening and found this street light with the San Fernando sign. It just spoke to me.

Day 160

I've driven by this church in Burbank a million times. And have been super interested in this neon sign.

Day 84

I decided to check out the warehouse area just a couple of streets over from my apartment. It mostly warehouses but I found this small motel tucked in between all of this industrial area. It seems very strange but it looks like it's been there for some time. They had this amazing neon sign up. I will have to go back some night to see if it lights up.  Edited in Aperture.

Day 57

Driving back from the vet's office, I saw this sign. Thought it was really cool. I pulled over. It was windy that day and so I had a hard time getting the sign without it being bend over.

Day 53

I had almost forgotten to get my picture for the day. I stopped to take this picture with my iPhone. I've been noticing that my iPhone's camera has this green tint to the center of the photo. And it didn't handle the neon very well. I forgot to get AppleCare on my phone, so I can't get it swapped out. Boo. I'll just have to deal with it until I can upgrade my phone.

Day 49

I was having a hard time with inspiration. That night nothing I shot I cared for. I drove into downtown Burbank. There were a couple of neon signs. I'm still not thrilled with this picture. But it's the best I that I shot of the evening.

Day 42

I've driven down Victory Blvd. many many times. And I've always wondered about the few motels that  are still there. I love the sign. I only wish it was neon. I can just picture how things looked in the 1950's when small motels were the norm.

Day 30

I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood to get my photo for the day. The strip mall next to my apartment has lots of neon signs in the businesses. I like the reflexion of the neon in the window behind the sign.

Day 29

I decided to shoot in an area that I don't normally take pictures in. I drove over to Atwater Village. It's a cute area of Los Angeles. There are a lot of really cool little stores along Glendale Ave. I saw this sign that had been ripped down. It looked really neat. There was some kind of buildings on the sign. I couldn't make it out.

Day 10

It's been super cold here in SoCal. I decided to get bundled up and go take pictures in Griffith Park. The sun was lower in the sky. It was much colder than I thought it was going to be. There is some kind of camp area in Griffith Park. I haven't done any research on it.

Day 1

I thought I would start this Project 365 out on California note. So here's a kinda blurry picture of the Hollywood Sign. I was all the way zoomed in on my iPhone4. This photo op spot was super busy. Probably over 20 cars lined this some what narrow street. I plan on coming back up here with my nice zoom lens and shooting this awesome SoCal landmark.

DAY 52

The BF aunt was going back to Mexico and we took her to LAX. But we had a ton of time to kill before her flight. So we went over to the Tom Bradley building to get some food and to walk around. I love the big board of Departures!

DAY 39

As I shot the car wash sign the day before, I got this really cute idea. The BF was gone for a week training for a job. I thought it would be cute to take pictures of letters in signs to spell out our names. We had seen this done at a store over in Santa Monica and we had talked about doing this but hadn't gotten around to it. So I had shot most of the letters for our names. (This is the PH from the Target Pharmacy sign.) But I knew of this sign that had a big E and small M. I went over and shot it. And as I was walking back, I didn't notice the sidewalk had a step in it. I tripped and fell. I hit my head and sheared off some skin on my trigger finger. My camera fell and bounced. Nothing broke on the camera. But I did a doozy on my finger and pride. I was very lucky that I didn't break anything on me or the camera. I made it home where my neighbor was walking out as I was walking in. She took care of me. I ended up being fine in the long run. No permanent damage to either the camera or myself. I just need to be more careful when I am out shooting.

DAY 38

While driving through Burbank, I am always on the look out for interesting signs. I have passed this car wash countless times. So I decided to take some photos of it. From this shot, actually came up with my shot for the next day and some major drama as well.

DAY 32

As I went to Ralph's to pick up some groceries, I heard over the intercom something about a pirate at the front of the store. I was like "What?!?!" I had to see what this Pirate was all about. It turns out to be a Capt. Morgan's Rum Pirate. I had to take a picture of a pirate!

DAY 31

I love taking photos in downtown. I really enjoy the urban architecture. I took many pictures and I really liked this one of the stop sign. All of the stickers are really interesting. I decided to shoot in black and white because I like the impact that black and white has.

DAY 29

By the Ikea in Burbank, there is a multilevel parking structure. We drove up to the top and took this lovely sunset photo with my iPhone4. We had been out shopping so I didn't have my Rebel with the longer lens. I think I will have to come back to get some more shots of the Valley.

DAY 24

Driving on Burbank Blvd. I've passed this amazing sign a million times. I took my Rebel T3i with me along with my iPhone4. I got out and framed up a shot with my Rebel and turned the camera on. And it didn't turn on. I had forgotten to take the battery out of the charger and put it back in the camera! D'oh! So this was taken with my iPhone4.

DAY 15

Roaming around downtown, I have always wanted to go inside the Bradbury Building. I have been fan of the movie BladeRunner since I was in college. They filmed part of the movie here. I really would love to get inside to shoot.

DAY 1

This is the parking lot of the Target in Burbank. I shot it using the Hipstamatic App using the Watts lens, Ina's 1969 film and no flash.
